Products of NCD Group

The NCD Group's standard bearings are based on 50 years of experience in the field of thermal power stations and petrochemical plants.

The standard bearings built by the NCD Group were originally designed and engineered for applications in nuclear power plants. Based on this experience and taking into account customer requirements, the NCD Group has developed today's standard and become one of the most significant suppliers in the pipe support industry.

If, for design or installation reasons, it is necessary to construct "ad hoc" pipe supports, the NCD Group is able to adapt the supports to the required condition thanks to its versatility and many years of experience in design and assembly. The high quality of the products is guaranteed by a quality control service with highly specialised personnel.

Collars and saddles

NCD Group accessories are used to connect the pipes to the support and the support to the structure. Rigid tie-rods are connected exclusively by accessory components.

Fittings directly in contact with the pipe or exposed to temperature by convection (e.g. collars) are designed according to the yield strength of the material. The design temperatures, relative to the temperature of the TM fluid, are decreased.

Hydraulic schock absorbers

The purpose of hydraulic shock absorbers is to prevent damage to pipelines as a result of seismic shocks, safety valve discharges, etc.

They allow thermal expansion and slow oscillations, while blocking fast and sudden oscillations.

The NCD hydraulic damper is used to prevent damage that can be caused by seismic shocks, water hammering, relief valve discharges, etc.

With the use of the hydraulic damper, the amplitudes of displacement that occur are limited to a minimum. In contrast to a simple proportional damper, the hydraulic damper does not hinder thermal expansion and slow oscillations that generate a piston speed lower than the damper valve closing speed.

Expansion compensators

In order to absorb pipe expansion caused by external influences, temperature changes and the weight of the pipe itself, expansion compensators are used, which NCD Group installs.

NCD Group supplies and installs metal expansion compensators, which are very flexible and can absorb movements in several directions. With these elements, pressure losses and heat losses are eliminated, with particular benefits on large diameter pipes.

The compensator must be chosen and designed with extreme care, according to the operating conditions: NCD Group provides its technical offices to find the most suitable solution.

Sliding plates

The NCD Group supplies variable and constant load supports and sliding plates to support the weight of pipes that are displaced at the support points due to thermal variations and other causes.

The slide plates are wear-resistant, efficient, durable and precise. NCD Group supplies slide plates in all standard sizes and styles.

Roller supports

NCD Group supplies roller supports that serve to reduce the frictional stresses generated on the supports of a pipe when it is subject to movement caused by thermal expansion.

Roller supports are necessary elements in the installation of rigid, insulated pipes which exert a large vertical load. They are also used when it is necessary to eliminate the friction on the support point caused by the expansion of the pipe itself.

Constant load elastic supports

Constant load supports are used where large vertical movements are expected between the cold and hot position of the pipe and where variations in the supporting force are unacceptable.

The constant-load bearing is designed with certain lever arms, geometry and spring combinations in such a way that a constant force acts on the bearing point and for the total stroke. The moment of the spring (spring force x corresponding lever arm) and the moment of the load (bearing load x corresponding lever arm) rotate around the main axis. In the upward or downward movement, the variables of the spring force/load lever arm system ensure that in any position the spring moment is balanced by the load moment.

Elastic supports with variable load

Suspended or supported variable load supports are used when it is necessary not to prevent vertical displacement from the support point of a pipe.

The variable load bearing consists of a preloaded coil spring enclosed in a cylindrical housing with a load and stroke indicator.

The load supported varies in proportion to the stroke as a function of the spring constant. The hanging brackets are shaped in such a way that adjustment is possible between the spring bracket and the support point.

Cryogenic media

Amongst the variable and constant load supports, the NCD Group supplies a particular type of support, called cryogenic support, which is used to support pipes in systems working at low temperatures.

These pipes need to have special insulation, which involves one or more layers of high-intensity polyurethane. The cryogenic supports can be saddle-shaped or collar-shaped, depending on the customer's requirements and needs. A vapour barrier is also placed between the polyurethane layer and the actual support with materials designed to resist high temperatures and an additional aluminium coating.

Tie rods Struts

Tie rods and struts are used to absorb the effect of dynamic loads, as they can be stressed in both tension and compression.

For this reason, stay rods can be used as pipe guides when expensive steel constructions are to be avoided.

Accessories

The N.C.D. accessories serve to connect the pipes to the support and the support to the structure. Rigid anchor bolts are only attached by accessory components. Fittings that are in direct contact with the pipe or exposed to convection temperature (e.g. collars) are designed according to the yield strength of the material. The design temperatures, relative to the temperature of the TM fluid, are decreased.

For more than 40 years, NCD has been designing and supplying purpose-built mechanical supports according to customer requirements. Don't miss the opportunity to put your trust in professionals in this field.
